Scrap Metal Shears
for Efficient
Metal Recycling

Scrap Metal shears with excellent cutting force
From light and medium-heavy mixed scrap to demolition material, steel structures, pipes, profiles, production waste and end-of-life vehicles, the LINDEMANN shear range provides reliable solutions for scrap yards, steelworks, foundries and industrial recycling operations.
Available as stationary or fully mobile machines, our scrap metal shears help operators increase throughput, reduce internal material handling and prepare scrap efficiently for transport, downstream processing or furnace charging.

Powerful Scrap Shears
for Every Processing Requirement
Scrap processing requirements differ significantly between recycling facilities. Material type, incoming volume, available yard space, mobility requirements and the desired output size all influence the ideal machine configuration.
LINDEMANN offers a coordinated range of hydraulic scrap metal shears for these different operating conditions. Heavy-duty stationary machines provide maximum cutting and compaction force for high-volume applications, while flexible wing shears enable fast processing of mixed and bulky material. The mobile NxtCut Mover brings the cutting process directly to changing scrap storage locations.
This allows operators to select a solution based on their actual material flow instead of adapting their entire yard to a single machine concept.
How a Scrap Metal Shear Works
Scrap is loaded into the machine’s press box or feeding system using a material handler or an optional feeding solution. Depending on the model, a powerful press lid, parallel-guided side compactor or two press wings compress the material into a dense and controlled package.
Effective pre-compaction improves material flow, stabilises bulky scrap and prepares heterogeneous material for reliable cutting.
Once compacted, the scrap is pushed towards the cutting head and separated by high-force guillotine blades. Automated cutting programmes can adapt the operating cycle to different scrap grades and desired output lengths.
Advanced electro-hydraulic systems transfer power efficiently and provide the cutting force required for challenging materials such as profiles, pipes, steel structures and demolition scrap.
Controlled compaction and cutting produce scrap pieces with more consistent dimensions and density. This simplifies handling, transportation and storage while supporting more reliable downstream processing and furnace charging.
Selected models can also form compact scrap logs with densities of approximately 1–1.4 tonnes per cubic metre.
Materials Processed by Scrap Metal Shears
LINDEMANN scrap metal shears can be configured to process a broad range of ferrous scrap materials, including:
- Light and medium-heavy mixed scrap
- Heavy and oversized scrap
- Demolition scrap
- Pipes, tubes and bars
- Steel profiles and structural components
- Sheet metal and production waste
- End-of-life vehicles
- Collectors’ scrap
- Bulky steel structures
- Industrial metal scrap
The suitable shear, cutting force and feeding configuration depend on the material dimensions, density, composition, required throughput and desired output length.
