S. Norton Increases Scrap Processing Capacity with the World’s First VFD-Driven ZZ Power Zerdirator
Advanced Shredding Technology for Maximum Throughput and Energy Efficiency
One of the UK’s leading metal recyclers, S. Norton Group, has commissioned the world’s first LINDEMANN ZZ Power Zerdirator equipped with an innovative Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system at its Manchester recycling facility. As part of a £20 million investment program, the new scrap processing line significantly increases throughput, improves material quality, and strengthens the company’s ability to process end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), scrap metal, and WEEE materials.
The Challenge
With growing volumes of scrap metal and increasing demand for high-quality recycled materials, S. Norton required a future-proof shredding solution capable of delivering higher throughput, improved energy efficiency, and greater operational reliability.
At the same time, reducing maintenance requirements and optimizing operating costs were key objectives for the new installation.
