CRP Expands Its Recycling Business with a New LINDEMANN Shredder Plant

High-Quality Shredded Scrap Production for Foundries and Steel Mills
With the commissioning of a new LINDEMANN ZZ 210×260 shredder plant, CRP – Centro de Reciclagem de Palmela – has taken a major step forward in strengthening its position within the Portuguese recycling industry. Located near Lisbon, the family-owned company invested in a state-of-the-art shredder plant equipped with a 2,500 hp main drive, enabling the production of high-quality shredded scrap for foundries, steel mills, and metal processing industries with demanding raw material specifications.

The Challenge

Like many recycling companies worldwide, CRP faced a highly challenging market environment during the commissioning phase of the new plant. Rising raw material costs, volatile market conditions, and significantly increased energy prices created additional pressure on operational performance and investment planning. At the same time, CRP aimed to expand its business model and establish itself as a producer of premium-quality shredded scrap for the most demanding recycling and steelmaking applications.

The Solution

To support its long-term growth strategy, CRP invested in a LINDEMANN ZZ 210×260 shredder plant featuring a powerful 2,500 hp drive system. The new installation enables the efficient processing of scrap metal into high-quality shredded products that meet the requirements of foundries, steel producers, and other metal processing industries. The plant significantly increases processing capabilities while supporting higher product quality and operational competitiveness.
