Starting in the early 1980s, the story of Texas Shredder began in San Antonio, Texas with spare parts and consumables for shredders. The first Texas Shredder left the factory hall in 1986 for Southern Iron & Metal in Beaumont, TX. Since that time, Texas Shredder has delivered close to 120 shredders, installed mostly in North America, but also internationally in China, South Korea, Colombia, Poland, and elsewhere. In a recent survey, there were nearly 90 active Texas Shredder shredders in operation worldwide.
In North America, the new brand “Texas Shredder by Lindemann” was historically two companies: Texas Shredder and Universal Hammermills/Svedala, which built shredders for the metal recycling industry from 1965 to 2000. Hammermills Svedala joined Metso around 2000, and in cooperation with LINDEMANN, which was also acquired by Metso in the same timeframe, developed an updated line of Metso shredders for the North American market.
Texas Shredder was acquired by Metso in 2005, and the Texas Shredder and ex-Svedala/Hammermills teams were merged during the 2nd half of that decade. Under the Metso umbrella, the Texas Shredder brand was maintained, and the company continued to manufacture both Metso and Texas Shredder branded shredders for the marketplace.
As of today, the combined Texas Shredder/Hammermills/Metso brands have a total of around 140 active installations globally, mostly in North and South America and Asia.
